It's Time for Summer Reading!
Summer is a great time to relax with a book! Or 5 books! The office of AISD superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz would like to share this list of recommended books for middle school students. Reading just 5 of them can help you avoid the "summer slide"--that drop in reading skills that happens when we don't practice reading frequently.
In addition to this list, you have a reading assignment from your teachers to help you get ready for next year.
How can I find books this summer?
First, check out Bailey's EBook collection. See the Overdrive instructions below.
Also, Austin Public Library provides many print and online resources.
Check out their teen page for book recommendations and summer activities, and click here to find a branch near you or check out their virtual library.
You can use Overdrive online or install the app, create an account, and add Bailey to your libraries, then you can download files to the app and read or listen offline. Visit the Bailey Library for help or a demo.
Like the Bluford Series? Listen to them online here.
Library books and computers are available for class and student use from 8-4 on typical school days. Science and Social Studies topics can be researched online using our databases. Mrs. Squires offers help with creating projects and completing research. All you need to do is ask!
The Library is available for student use from
